Bank Indonesia’s latest Consumer Survey for April 2025 shows that consumer confidence remains steady.
The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) increased slightly to 121.7, up from 121.1 in March 2025, reflecting a continued optimistic outlook.
This slight rise suggests that people are generally still confident about the current state of the economy and their future expectations.
The Current Economic Condition Index (CECI) also saw a modest rise, signaling that consumers are more optimistic about their current income, ability to purchase goods, and job availability.
The increase in confidence was particularly notable in major cities like Bandung, Palembang, and Jakarta, where perceptions of economic conditions improved across the board.
Optimism was highest among younger consumers, particularly those aged 20–40 years. Additionally, those with monthly expenditures above IDR 4 million also showed stronger confidence.
However, older groups, particularly those over 60 years old, showed a slight decrease in optimism compared to the previous month.
Despite a slight decline in April, consumers still maintain a positive outlook for the economy over the next six months. Expectations for higher income and job availability remain strong, although concerns about business activities and future job opportunities were somewhat more cautious.
The survey also reveals a shift in consumer behavior. The proportion of income used for consumption decreased, while the amount saved increased to around 15% of total income. This suggests that consumers are becoming more cautious and are focusing on saving for the future.
