INA Teams Up with Granite Asia for $1.2 Billion Investment in Tech

Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) has announced a strategic partnership with Granite Asia, a leading multi-asset investment firm. This collaboration, formalized through an Investment Framework Agreement (IFA), focuses on accelerating digital transformation and supporting the growth of Indonesia’s technology ecosystem.

This partnership highlights the shared commitment of both organizations to strengthen Indonesia’s technology sector and provide capital and resources to businesses across industries. Their goal is to help integrate digital technologies and introduce advanced technology to Indonesia’s market, contributing to long-term economic growth.

As part of the partnership, INA and Granite Asia will allocate up to USD 1.2 billion into various investment opportunities that align with the strategic priorities of both parties. The investments will primarily focus on businesses in Indonesia or those with strong links to Indonesia, either through existing operations or by introducing technology beneficial to the domestic market in the long run.

The multi-asset approach allows INA and Granite Asia to offer tailored funding solutions to businesses at various stages of development. This approach not only encourages innovation but also optimizes returns while maintaining manageable risk for investors. By utilizing both equity and hybrid capital solutions, the partnership aims to address financing needs that extend beyond traditional bank loans, especially for technology-driven companies in need of flexible capital solutions. This is also relevant for traditional businesses undergoing digital transformation and seeking sustainable growth.

Ridha Wirakusumah, Chairman of the INA Board of Directors, expressed the importance of this partnership, saying, “Partnering with Granite Asia, a leading investor with an impressive 24-year track record in technology investments, aligns with our strategic focus on digitalization and digital infrastructure. Their deep expertise in technology and tech-based business models fits well with INA’s priorities to drive innovation and sustainable growth in Indonesia. This partnership allows us to introduce transformative technologies to Indonesia, facilitating digital transformation in key sectors and strengthening the broader technology ecosystem.”

Jenny Lee, Senior Managing Partner at Granite Asia, also commented on the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with INA offers a unique opportunity to combine Granite Asia’s global expertise in technology investment with INA’s local insights and strategic vision for Indonesia. We see immense potential in Indonesia’s rapidly growing technology ecosystem and are excited to work with INA to accelerate this transformation. Through equity and hybrid capital solutions, we can provide customized funding to meet the diverse needs of businesses at different stages of their technology journey. Together, we will drive innovation, support sustainable growth, optimize long-term value for Indonesia’s economy, and help position the country as a regional leader in technology.”

This strategic collaboration underscores INA’s dedication to driving innovation and digitalization through partnerships with global investors. It reflects both organizations’ long-term commitment to optimizing Indonesia’s economic potential, ensuring that the country remains competitive and well-prepared for the future in an increasingly tech-oriented global landscape.
