Pertamuda 2024: 30 Young Entrepreneurs Competing for Funding

PT Pertamina (Persero) has officially announced the 30 top teams selected for the Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2024 competition. The event, which is part of the Pertamina Muda program, aims to develop a thriving startup ecosystem while fostering continuous innovation from Indonesia's young talent.

The Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, revealed that the 30 finalists were chosen from a pool of 3,245 applicants across various universities in Indonesia. These finalists underwent a rigorous selection process to ensure only the best ideas moved forward.

“Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2024 is the fourth edition of this prestigious business idea competition, showcasing Pertamina’s ongoing support for young entrepreneurship in Indonesia,” said Fadjar.

The 30 finalists are divided into two categories: 10 teams in the Energy Founder category and 20 teams in the Early Stage Startup category. These teams represent 21 top universities from regions across Indonesia, including East Java, Central Java, DIY (Yogyakarta), West Java, Jakarta, and North Sumatra.

The next stage of the competition will be the Demoday Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2024, which will take place in Surabaya on November 18-19, 2024. During this event, the 30 finalists will showcase their innovative ideas to a panel of judges. Following the event, a second round of selection will reduce the group to 15 finalists, who will then compete for the top 3 spots in each category.

The top 3 finalists in each category will receive substantial development funds, including funding for their respective universities. The competition will provide hundreds of millions of rupiah in total funding to support these startups as they take their businesses to the next level.

“Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2024 is a vital initiative that focuses on building a robust startup ecosystem and driving sustainable innovation by Indonesia’s next generation of entrepreneurs,” added Fadjar. “This program aligns with the Ministry of Education and Culture’s call to strengthen collaboration between universities and industries, helping accelerate the growth of national entrepreneurship.”

Pertamuda Seed and Scale is an annual event, now in its fourth year, that has continued to promote the development of startups and innovation across Indonesia. The program is closely aligned with the government’s Asta Cita initiative, which emphasizes the strengthening of human resources (HR) through collaborations between educational institutions, government, and industry sectors. The aim is to increase the utilization of digital technology and foster sustainable development.

As Indonesia's leader in the energy transition, Pertamina is committed to supporting the country's goal of achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2060. The company remains focused on driving initiatives that contribute directly to the achievement of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Pertamina’s efforts are part of a broader commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices throughout its business operations.
