Djohan Emir Resigns as BCA President Commissioner, Holds Rp 1.07 Trillion in Shares

Djohan Emir Setijoso, the former President Commissioner of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BCA), has announced his resignation from the position, effective as of December 16, 2024. The news was disclosed in an official filing to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). BCA’s management confirmed that the resignation would be addressed in the company’s Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) in 2025.

Emir, who had been with BCA for several decades, holds a significant stake in the company. He owns 106,824,845 shares in BCA, equating to 0.087% of the total outstanding shares. Based on the closing price of BCA’s stock on December 17, 2024, which stood at IDR 9,900 per share, his holdings are valued at approximately IDR 1.07 trillion.

Djohan Emir Setijoso’s career with BCA began in 1999 when he was appointed as the President Director of the bank, a role he held until 2011. His leadership at BCA included overseeing critical divisions such as Corporate Planning, Finance, and Internal Audit. In 2011, he was appointed President Commissioner, a position he held until his recent resignation.

Prior to his tenure at BCA, Emir had a long career at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BBRI), where he served from 1965 to 1998, eventually becoming a Director. He also held the role of President Commissioner at Inter Pacific Bank between 1993 and 1998. His experience in the banking industry has been integral to his contributions to BCA’s growth.

Despite stepping down from his role at BCA, Djohan Emir’s substantial stake in the company remains. His financial involvement in BCA continues to signify his ongoing interest in the bank’s performance and future prospects.

This resignation comes at a time when BCA is continuing to expand its footprint in the banking sector, and the company is expected to navigate new challenges and opportunities in the market. Djohan Emir’s departure marks a significant moment in the history of the bank, leaving a notable legacy in Indonesia’s banking industry.
