PT PLN (Persero) is accelerating Indonesia's green energy transition by collaborating with four leading startups: Maka Motors, Dayagreen, Gree, and 360E. This partnership, announced during a Media Roundtable in Jakarta, is part of the "Connext Powered by PLN" program. The goal is to further develop the country's renewable energy ecosystem and the electric vehicle (EV) market.
Darmawan Prasodjo, the President Director of PLN, emphasized the urgency of speeding up the energy transition. "The rise of EVs aligns with Indonesia's energy independence goals, which are based on renewable resources," Prasodjo said. This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in meeting Indonesia's Net Zero Emissions (NZE) target by 2060.
Through this collaboration, PLN is not just facilitating but also leading the charge in this green revolution. Abdan Hanif Satria, EVP of Business Development and Corporate Investments at PLN, shared, "We aim to foster a thriving green energy ecosystem, offering startups the space to innovate while addressing local needs."
One of the startups, Maka Motors, highlights the critical role PLN plays in advancing EV technology. "This partnership allows us to focus on creating energy-efficient electric vehicles with high performance," said Maka Motors CEO Raditya Wibowo. PLN's support, according to Wibowo, is key to accelerating EV adoption in Indonesia.
Another key partner, 360E, leverages green distributed power generation to provide electricity to remote areas not covered by conventional grids. COO Irwan Sukma explained, “This technology is pivotal for creating a sustainable energy ecosystem that reaches every corner of Indonesia.”
To strengthen its infrastructure, PLN has already established 2,667 electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) across the nation. By 2025, the company plans to build an additional 1,100 charging points. Ririn Rachmawardini, EVP of Product Development at PLN, mentioned, "We are also launching the EV Digital Services feature within the PLN Mobile app, streamlining the EV user experience."
This collaborative effort is expected to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and green energy solutions, positioning Indonesia as a leader in the regional energy transition.
