NESR's NEDA Technology: Pioneering Decarbonization in Indonesia’s Oil Sector

National Energy Services Reunited (NESR), a global leader in oil and gas services, has introduced its groundbreaking NERS Environmental and Decarbonization Application (NEDA). Designed to support Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies, NEDA enhances Enhanced Oil Recovery (CO2-EOR) processes, aligning with Indonesia’s net-zero carbon emission goals.

Success Stories in Carbon Capture

In collaboration with Pertamina, NESR has successfully implemented CO2-EOR technologies in Indonesia since 2022. Key projects in Jatibarang and Sukowati oil fields have demonstrated notable results. Utilizing CO2 injection methods, NESR’s “huff and puff” system has improved oil production while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions. Building on this success, NESR is now scaling up NEDA technology in Sukowati to optimize its carbon capture and production processes further.

Pande Gede Herry Susanta, President Director of PT NPS Energy Indonesia, emphasized NESR’s phased approach, which includes preliminary studies, trials, and full-scale implementation to ensure project success. These initiatives showcase NESR’s commitment to delivering sustainable solutions and empowering local workforces.

Technological Advancements with NEDA

NEDA integrates cutting-edge tools such as the Data Acquisition and Real-Time Analyzer (DARATM), enabling real-time monitoring and control of CO2 injection via satellite. Other key innovations include high-pressure CO2 pumps, indirect automated heaters (INDAHTM), ISO tanks, and the Virtual-Pipeline™ system, ensuring operational efficiency across all stages of production.

NESR's Broader ESG Commitments

Beyond its technological contributions, NESR continues to lead environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. Since 2021, its ESG Impact program has focused on addressing climate change through water conservation, aquifer protection, and methane reduction.
