OJK and Market Regulators Strengthen Indonesia Capital Market Reform

Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) and capital market self-regulatory organizations (SROs) held a dialogue with market participants to discuss recent market developments and gather input to strengthen market integrity and maintain public confidence in Indonesia’s capital market (18/10).

The meeting took place at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in Jakarta on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Participants included analysts, economists, and financial influencers, known as finfluencers.

OJK Seeks Input from Capital Market Participants

OJK Board of Commissioners Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Capital Market, Derivatives Finance, and Carbon Exchange Supervisor Hasan Fawzi, and leaders of the IDX, the Indonesia Central Securities Depository (KSEI), and the Indonesia Clearing and Guarantee Corporation (KPEI) attended the meeting.

Friderica emphasized the importance of open and constructive dialogue between regulators and market participants. She said their input could help identify issues that require attention to maintain public confidence and strengthen Indonesia’s capital market.

“Regulators are not only here to communicate policies to market participants. We actually want to hear input and views openly, including various things that we may not yet know. This input is important to strengthen our collective efforts to develop and reinforce the domestic capital market,” Friderica said.

OJK and SROs Continue Market Integrity Reforms

Hasan said OJK, the SROs, and capital market participants were committed to continuing and strengthening the implementation of Indonesia’s Capital Market Integrity Reform Acceleration Action Plan.

The measures include improving market transparency, strengthening communication with global index providers and investors, and following up on feedback concerning Indonesia’s capital market.

Hasan said input from market participants, economists, and finfluencers was necessary to develop objective, fact-based recommendations that OJK and the SROs could act on promptly. He added that such input had become increasingly important as Indonesia’s capital market investor base expanded.

He also stressed the importance of responding constructively to market pressures through measured action supported by facts and rational analysis.

“Our capital market is our shared home and belongs to all of us. The various pressures we face need to be addressed with constructive solutions. Under these conditions, we must work together and remain united in delivering a measured response, while presenting facts and rationality to balance market sentiment,” Hasan said.

OJK Announces Rp2.1 Trillion in Administrative Fines

On October 16, 2026, OJK announced administrative fines totaling Rp2.1 trillion against parties involved in capital market violations.

Hasan said the sanctions were part of OJK’s examination process and were not imposed solely as a reactive response to recent market developments. He described the enforcement measures as part of OJK’s commitment to strengthening capital market integrity and maintaining investor confidence.

The enforcement action was among the measures discussed in the broader effort to strengthen Indonesia’s capital market. OJK and the SROs also emphasized the importance of stakeholder input in supporting the implementation of reforms.

IDX Focuses on Share Ownership Transparency

IDX Development Director Iding Pardi said strengthening transparency was a major focus of Indonesia’s capital market reform efforts.

The measures include expanding disclosures on share ownership, investor classifications, and the concentration of share ownership. Iding said these disclosure measures had received broad recognition and positive appreciation from various parties.

Through the dialogue, OJK and the SROs encouraged all capital market stakeholders to actively provide their views and recommendations. The input would serve as consideration for strengthening market consolidation, improving transparency, and maintaining investor confidence.
