PT Ultrajaya Milk Industry & Trading Company Tbk has strengthened its UHT milk production to support Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program through a new investment of Rp 1.14 trillion (24/01).
The initiative aims to ensure the availability of nutritious dairy products for the nationwide program.
Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized the strategic role of the national dairy processing industry in meeting public nutritional needs.
“The national dairy processing industry must be able to meet the requirements of the MBG program, in terms of production capacity, product quality, and sustainable raw material supply. The government encourages the industry to continue investing and partnering with domestic farmers,” he said in Jakarta.
Supporting the MBG Program: Government Encourages Domestic Dairy Investment
Ultrajaya’s new factory, operational since 8 December 2025, is located in the MM 2100 Industrial Area, Cibitung, Bekasi Regency.
The facility currently operates three production lines for UHT milk in 125 ml and 200 ml packages, with plans to add another line in March 2026. These steps are designed to meet the growing needs of the MBG program.
Putu Juli Ardika, Acting Director General of Agro Industry, highlighted the factory’s adoption of Industry 4.0 technology.
“The application of Industry 4.0 technology has proven to improve efficiency, save energy, increase productivity and competitiveness, and maintain product quality,” he stated.
Industrial 4.0 Enhances Efficiency and Sustainability in Dairy Production
The technological systems implemented include Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), autopilot forklifts, Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and warehouse management based on Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS).
Additionally, the factory has a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) using ultrafiltration, enabling the recycling and reuse of most wastewater in production processes.
Securing Fresh Milk Supply Through Domestic Dairy Farms
To guarantee a fresh milk supply, Ultrajaya operates two dairy farms in Bandung and North Sumatra, with approximately 7,000 cows. The company plans to invest further to add 4,000 cows to strengthen the domestic milk supply.
Kemenperin will continue encouraging Ultrajaya to increase the use of domestic fresh milk to meet MBG targets and participate in the National Lighthouse Industry 4.0 selection as a model for a technology-driven, automated dairy processing industry.
Digitalization and Collaboration Strengthen National Food Security
Previously, Kemenperin implemented digitalization at Milk Collection Points (TPS) to maintain milk quality, protein content, and freshness.
By combining investment, digital technology, and collaboration with farmers and cooperatives, the ministry aims to support national food security, increase domestic value, and ensure the sustainable success of the MBG program.
