Robinhood Markets, Inc., a major financial services company from the United States, officially acquired PT Buana Capital and PT Pedagang Aset Kripto (Coinvest), marking its formal entry into Indonesia’s capital market (08/12).
The move also accelerates the company’s broader expansion across Southeast Asia and other global markets.
Indonesia’s Growing Investor Base Draws Global Interest
Patrick Chan, Robinhood’s Head of Asia, said at the Indonesia Stock Exchange building that “Indonesia is a fast-growing market and an interesting place to continue Robinhood’s mission. We look forward to bringing the same innovative services to the Indonesian public.”
Indonesia recorded more than 19 million capital market investors and 17 million crypto investors as of the end of October 2025, showing strong national participation in both stock and digital asset activities.
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) has grown 21.5 percent year to date, making it the third-best performer in ASEAN and seventh in the Asia-Pacific region.
Crypto transaction value reached Rp409.56 trillion by the end of October 2025, with October alone contributing Rp49.28 trillion, an increase of 27.6 percent from the previous month.
Corporate Leaders Highlight Potential Synergies
Buana Capital President Director Benny Hardiman Setiabrata stated that the acquisition strengthens Indonesia’s capital market ecosystem.
“Through this synergy, Indonesians will find it easier to access global investments in a more affordable and efficient way. This acquisition also creates major opportunities to advance financial literacy and inclusion in the country,” he said.
Robinhood confirmed it will continue serving existing brokerage clients with Indonesian financial products following the acquisition.
Plans for Broader Investment Access
In the long term, and with regulatory approval, Robinhood plans to introduce trading services that include access to U.S. stocks, global crypto assets, and other international instruments.
