Indonesia’s digital financial economy is growing rapidly and is expected to be the backbone of future economic growth. Digitalization has been placed as a national priority under Asta Cita to build an efficient and inclusive economy, using technology to support Indonesia Emas 2045.
The Festival Ekonomi Keuangan Digital Indonesia and Indonesia Fintech Summit & Expo 2025 (FEKDI x IFSE 2025) opened on October 30 at Hall B JICC Jakarta. The event is a collaboration between Bank Indonesia, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI), and the Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH).
“The synergy between FEKDI and IFSE will be a concrete support for national policy synergy that is key to accelerating Indonesia’s digital transformation as part of the Asta Cita program,” said Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo. He added, “Currently, Indonesia has become the fastest growing digital economy.” In Q3 2025, digital payment transactions reached 12.99 billion, increasing 38.08% year-on-year.
QRIS Adoption Reflects Inclusive Digitalization
The use of digital payment systems, such as QRIS, has reached nearly 60 million users, providing convenience, efficiency, and speed. About 93% of these users are micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), showing that financial digitalization has grown organically in society.
Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Filianingsih Hendarta, said, “The implementation of the Indonesian Payment System Blueprint (BSPI) 2025 has delivered real results. National digital transactions have grown rapidly to IDR 59.4 thousand trillion, or about three times Indonesia’s GDP.”
Authorities Stress Innovation, Trust, and Security
OJK Chairman Mahendra Siregar emphasized that digital transformation is not only about technology but also about expanding inclusive financial access, improving efficiency and security, and strengthening public trust. “Digital transformation must be built on a strong foundation, trust in the system, governance, and consumer protection. Therefore, innovation, risk mitigation, and trustworthy governance must go hand in hand,” he said.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto noted that large opportunities come with challenges such as ensuring payment system security, improving digital literacy, and building trust for sustainable financial innovation. The government has published the White Paper on National Digital Economy Strategy 2030 and the National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap and opened access to technology investment in various sectors, including finance.
Infrastructure and Literacy Support Digital Growth
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono highlighted the importance of both physical and digital infrastructure in creating an inclusive digital financial ecosystem. “We provide infrastructure to bridge communities with and without access to digital spaces. Literacy must improve so no one and no region is left behind,” he said.
FEKDI x IFSE 2025 introduced several government-industry initiatives, including QRIS Without Scan (TAP) for five modes of transport and parking facilities, as well as a cross-border QRIS sandbox between Indonesia and South Korea.
