Gold Investments Propel BSI's Fee-Based Income to 34% Growth in 2025

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) continues to push for healthy and sustainable business growth. One of the main strategies is strengthening the Islamic ecosystem, a key feature of sharia banking.

BSI Expands Islamic Ecosystem with Gold and Hajj Services

BSI’s Islamic ecosystem development currently focuses on gold and Hajj services. Its gold banking service, BSI Emas, was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, on February 26, 2025. As of now, BSI Emas has surpassed one ton in gold volume.

Demand for Sharia Gold Investment Sees Significant Growth

Gold has become one of the most favored Islamic financial instruments. This is reflected in a 110% year-to-date increase in BSI Emas holdings (from December to June 2025). Additionally, transactions for gold purchases via BYOND rose 191% year-to-date.

“Gold remains a popular investment for the public in line with its nature as a haven, its simplicity, and resistance to inflation. Therefore, we continue to encourage gold investment innovations through BSI Emas, Cicil Emas, Gadai Emas, and BSI Gold,” said BSI Corporate Secretary Wisnu Sunandar.

BSI’s Fee-Based Income Grows by Over 34%

According to Wisnu, this innovation has had a positive effect not only on financing but also on fee-based income (FBI). As of July 2025, BSI recorded 34.33% year-on-year growth in FBI.

This growth is driven by three main segments: Gold Business, Treasury, and E-Channel. The Gold Business segment grew by over 60%, while Treasury and E-Channel recorded 30% and 20% growth, respectively.

BSI Develops End-to-End Islamic Ecosystem to Support Business Performance

“BSI continues to explore healthy and sustainable business potential, along with optimal service and product innovation for customers. BSI has several products with unique value propositions, especially in relation to Sharia. Two of these are the gold and Hajj services,” Wisnu explained.

“To maintain this business performance, BSI is continuously developing its Islamic ecosystem from upstream to downstream. This includes a closed-loop end-to-end ecosystem, covering funding, financing, and ultimately transactions through BSI. We are grateful that the right business choices are currently helping to drive the company's performance,” he added.
