Zendo: How It Stays Competitive Against Gojek and Grab

Zendo, the online transportation service founded by Muhammadiyah’s business group (SUMU), has been operating since 2015. Despite competing with major players like Gojek and Grab, Zendo has carved out its own space, offering services in over 70 cities across Indonesia.

Zendo provides a variety of services, including motorbike and car rides, cleaning, delivery, and shopping. Users can access these services through the Zendo app or WhatsApp. The company has partnered with over 700 drivers and 2,000 service providers, ensuring its wide availability.

One of the things that sets Zendo apart is its revenue-sharing system. The company takes only a 20% cut from drivers, which CEO Lutfi Azizah explains is designed to keep everyone’s interests in mind. "We make sure drivers get a fair deal, and that’s why we keep our share at just 20%," he said.

Unlike other platforms that recruit drivers in large numbers, Zendo prefers a more selective approach. This way, each driver gets a fair chance to earn a decent income. “It’s not about getting as many drivers as possible,” Lutfi added. “It’s about balanced growth, making sure everyone can thrive.”

Ghufron Mustaqim, the Secretary-General of SUMU, also shared that Zendo looks for drivers who meet specific criteria, focusing not just on their skills but also on their character. “We want to ensure each driver can earn a decent income every day,” he said.

Zendo offers a variety of services, catering to different needs. Zendo Bike provides fast rides with experienced drivers, while Zendo Car is ideal for family trips or transporting larger items. Zendo Cleaning offers home and office cleaning services, and Zendo Delivery is perfect for shipping personal or business goods.

Additionally, Zendo Food delivers meals from popular restaurants, and Zendo Shopping allows users to purchase daily necessities without leaving their homes.
