President Director Ahmad Yani said the company is currently completing the study for the Kamojang pilot project before moving to implementation.

"In Kamojang, we are currently in the study process. Hopefully, it can soon begin as a real pilot project," Yani said during a media briefing in South Jakarta on Tuesday (04/08).

Geothermal Power Planned to Support Data Center Operations

Yani said PGEO's role is to provide reliable electricity based on the operational needs of data centers by promoting geothermal energy as a green energy source.

"Because a data center cannot go offline. Within three seconds, or minutes, or seconds, it must remain operational without failure. That is what we want to create with geothermal energy. What kind of backup system is needed so it can meet Tier 1 and Tier 2 requirements? We have to design it. Yani said many parties have approached PGEO to cooperate in developing the data center business. He said the company is working with IDPro and Telkom.

After completing the Kamojang pilot project, PGEO plans to explore other potential locations for its data center business.

Yani said Sulawesi and Sumatra have the potential for future development.

"It could be in Sulawesi. As you have heard, the world's data center hub may be developed there because the submarine cable route is already available. Sumatra is also a possibility," he said.
