PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) has partnered with Alibaba Cloud and HiColleagues to organize the AI Talent Development Roadshow, a program designed to prepare digital talent for industry demands (08/01).
Program Targets Digital Skills Gap Ahead of 2030 Goals
The initiative responds to Indonesia’s target of nine million digital professionals by 2030, as only about 20 percent of IT graduates currently meet industry standards. The hybrid program ran from September to November 2025 in five major cities: Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Makassar, and Malang, involving over 50 communities and more than 500 participants, including students, academics, developers, and startup founders.
“Telkom supports various digital talent development initiatives to accelerate innovation related to artificial intelligence. Through the AI Center of Excellence, we create broad collaboration opportunities with partners, including global ones, to prepare AI talent that can compete while promoting AI adoption across sectors,” said Komang Budi Aryasa, Executive General Manager Digital Product at Telkom Indonesia.
Hands-On Training in Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Cloud Computing
The roadshow offered participants practical sessions covering Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Cloud Computing, including Prompt Engineering, ethical AI principles, and GPU-Accelerated Computing. All participants received Clouder Certification, and the top 50 performers earned professional certificates.
“Through the strategic collaboration between Telkom and Alibaba Cloud, we accelerate AI adoption in multiple sectors and drive innovation. We hope this program produces digital talent and AI solutions ready for industrial application,” said Sean Yuan, Regional General Manager South Pacific & Japan, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.
Telkom AI Center of Excellence Strengthens National AI Ecosystem
Launched in 2025, the Telkom AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE) serves as a hub for AI development in Indonesia. It is built on four pillars: AI Campus, AI Playground, AI Hub, and AI Connect, with the roadshow being part of the AI Connect program. The initiative supports the development of AI talent and reduces the gap between industry needs and the availability of digital professionals.
Inclusive Approach Engages Students, Professionals, and Startups
The program emphasized inclusivity by involving participants from students, professionals, and MSMEs. Didi, a software developer from a Singapore-based remote company, said: “I just learned about many AI solutions from Telkom and Alibaba Cloud. This opens a huge opportunity to expand the market and create innovations that benefit society. The event is also very inclusive, providing an understanding of AI applications across different fields.”
Telkom continues to provide access to training, incubation, scholarships, and industry collaboration to strengthen national digital talent, supporting Indonesia’s goal to meet its digital workforce needs by 2030.
