Strengthening National Industrial Product Standards: Kemenperin’s SBIN Strategy for Indonesia’s Industrial Growth

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is working to strengthen Indonesia’s industrial foundation to maintain competitiveness amid global challenges (29/12). Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the Strategi Baru Industrialisasi Nasional (SBIN) has been set as the national industrial policy framework to support Indonesia Emas 2045.

“SBIN rests on four main pillars: industrial downstreaming, ecosystem development, technology mastery, and sustainability,” Agus said. Collaboration across stakeholders is emphasized as a key factor to enhance the competitiveness of national industries.

BSKJI Advances Industrial Services and Quality Standards

Within SBIN’s implementation, the Industrial Services and Standardization Agency (BSKJI) plays a strategic role in strengthening the industrial ecosystem. Emmy Suryandari, Head of BSKJI, stated that through 24 technical units under its coordination, the ministry continues to improve service quality and relevance to industrial needs.

“Our services include certification, testing, calibration, proficiency testing, and technical assistance. All these services aim to support higher quality, safety, and competitiveness of national industrial products,” Emmy explained.

Industrial Gathering 2025 Highlights Collaboration and Innovation

The 2025 Industrial Gathering, organized by BBSPJIKB under BSKJI, was held with the theme “Synergy and Collaboration Toward Industrial Independence” (29/12). Around 200 participants joined, including 150 onsite and 50 online attendees, representing government agencies, state-owned enterprises, Bank Indonesia, industry players, academics, associations, and service partners.

In her opening remarks delivered online, Emmy Suryandari reaffirmed BSKJI’s commitment: “BSKJI will continue to ensure that national industrial products meet quality, safety, and sustainable global standards. All our units are encouraged to innovate and adapt to industry needs.”

BBSPJIKB Expands Services and Recognizes Industry Partners

Cahyadi, acting head of BBSPJIKB, explained that the Industrial Gathering serves as a strategic forum to strengthen communication and synergy with industrial stakeholders. “This agenda is an open, constructive, and collaborative platform. We also introduce the expansion of BBSPJIKB’s industrial services to partners and prospective partners,” he said.

The event included a panel discussion with four speakers from the Directorate of Chemical, Textile, and Handicraft SMEs, KADIN Yogyakarta, PT Fumira, and BBSPJIKB. The discussion focused on challenges and opportunities in national industrial development.

BBSPJIKB’s services are expanding beyond handicrafts and batik to include other industrial sectors. The agency also awarded clients and partners with Top Client, Top Loyal, and Best Partner awards. Symbolic certificates were handed over for six types of services: SNI product certification, Batikmark, professional certification, quality management system certification, halal certification, and green industry certification. These initiatives aim to improve product quality, standard compliance, and competitiveness.
