Bosch Invests €25 Million to Build First Modular Factory in Cikarang, Indonesia

Bosch officially began construction of its newest manufacturing facility in Cikarang, West Java (19/11). The factory, covering 82,000 square meters, follows a modular concept designed to allow fast and flexible expansion of production lines.

“Our business units will be able to quickly and easily build and expand their production lines according to customer demand. We are confident this factory will open opportunities and drive growth across all Bosch business sectors,” said Pirmin Riegger, Managing Director of Bosch Indonesia.

Modular Design to Support Multiple Business Units

The new modular facility will enable several Bosch business units with different production processes and technologies to operate simultaneously in a single location. This approach ensures efficient use of resources and faster response to customer demands.

Long-Term Commitment to Local Development

The facility reflects Bosch’s long-term commitment to developing local capabilities, transferring advanced technologies, and offering sustainable solutions for Indonesia. The factory will also provide leasing options to external partners to maximize the use of resources locally.

Phased Development and Investment Plan

Construction will occur in phases to gradually expand Bosch’s production activities in Indonesia. It will replace the existing plant that manufactures automotive components and electronic devices. The first phase of the project involves an initial investment of approximately €25 million, with completion targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

Expanded Production for Automotive and Building Technology

The new plant will be significantly larger than the previous facility, producing automotive components such as electronic control units (ECUs) and engine cooling fans (ECF). In addition, it will manufacture building technology products.

“This new manufacturing facility supports our plans with a local-for-local production approach. It will help Bosch’s business become more agile in responding to changes in customer demand and capturing growth opportunities,” said Vijay Ratnaparkhe, President of Bosch for Region Asia Pacific South.
