Telkomsat Partners with Kemenkes to Implement AI-Driven Telehealth Solutions in Underserved Regions

Telkomsat signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) at the Ministry’s office in Kuningan, Jakarta. The signing was conducted by Telkomsat President Director Lukman Hakim Abd Rauf and Head of the Data and Information Center (Pusdatin) of the Ministry of Health Eko Sulistijo, witnessed by Vice Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Dante Saksono Harbuwono, Sp.PD-KEMD., Ph.D.

Also present were Senior Advisor to the Minister of Health for Health Economics Drs. Bayu Teja Muliawan, S.H., M.Pharm., M.M., Apt., Telkomsat’s directors and senior leaders, and strategic partner Michael Kuo, President Director of Teleport Access Service (TAS).

Satellite and AI Technologies to Strengthen Health Services

Through this collaboration, Telkomsat will implement the AI Telehealth Gateway, a solution that combines high-reliability satellite connectivity, telehealth services, and artificial intelligence to accelerate remote consultations, enhance data-based referral processes, and deliver accurate health analytics, particularly in areas without terrestrial networks.

The initiative continues Telkomsat’s previous synergy with several provincial governments, aiming to ensure that satellite connectivity, telehealth, and AI provide real benefits for communities in each region.

“Technology plays an important role in transforming healthcare systems and services, and this aligns with the Ministry of Health’s programs. Technology should not only belong to major cities but to everyone. This collaboration must be monitored together and later evaluated and developed,” said Vice Minister of Health Prof. Dante Saksono Harbuwono.

After the signing, Telkomsat and TAS will begin stages of implementation, installation, and proof of concept (PoC). Following the PoC, the parties will prepare to strengthen operational models, training programs, and service quality assurance to ensure sustainable operations.

Commitment to Expanding Digital Healthcare Nationwide

As a next step, Telkomsat and the Ministry of Health will expand the initiative to include community health centers (puskesmas) and healthcare facilities across Indonesia, with initial implementation targeted to start in 2025. The main focus will be on connectivity reliability, device availability, data system integration, and service governance.

“We appreciate the entire Pusdatin Kemenkes team. Telkomsat is fully present to provide the best support so that this collaboration delivers real impact in improving health services. We have previously signed MoUs with several provincial governments who share the same hope that satellite connectivity, telehealth, and AI can help communities. Next, we will expand the benefits of this service to puskesmas and health facilities throughout Indonesia, targeting the rollout to begin in 2025,” said Telkomsat President Director Lukman Hakim Abd Rauf.

Through this strategic collaboration, Telkomsat supports the Ministry of Health in realizing inclusive, effective, and equitable healthcare services for all Indonesians.
