IPB University Supports 25 Startups in 2025 Business Incubation Program to Boost Growth

The Science and Technology Area Institute (LKST) at IPB University recently organized a workshop focused on creating effective action plans and business plans.

This initiative aims to provide education and facilitation for innovation-driven entrepreneurs.

The event was held at the Startup Center building on the IPB Taman Kencana campus in Bogor on June 26, 2025.

Head of LKST Emphasizes Growth and Sustainability of Startups

Prof. Erika B. Laconi, Head of LKST IPB University, highlighted in her opening remarks the institution’s commitment to encouraging startup growth through its business incubation program.

“Through this incubation program, we hope the startups we mentor will grow well and sustainably,” said Prof. Erika.

25 Startups Enrolled, Expecting Growth in Coming Years

In 2025, LKST IPB University is supporting 25 startup teams in its incubation program.

Prof. Erika expressed optimism that this number will increase in future years as more startups benefit from the IPB Science Techno Park (STP) facilitation.

“Quantity is not the sole indicator of success. What we want is sustainability. We want to see startups remain active and grow after the incubation period, not just during it,” she asserted.

Collaboration Between Startups and Innovators as a Key to Competitiveness

Prof. Erika stressed the importance of collaboration between startups and innovators within IPB University.

As the largest recipient of national research funding and holder of hundreds of granted patents, IPB University offers a rich environment where innovation and creativity can drive startup success.

“Startups will survive if they are based on innovation and creativity. Without product modification or diversification, it is hard to compete in the market,” she explained.

Encouraging Use of Local Resources to Strengthen National Business

Further, Prof. Erika encouraged startups to leverage local resources and reduce dependency on foreign raw materials.

“If we want to build this nation, let us build businesses from local resources, materials from our own home,” she emphasized.

She concluded by urging all participants to draft targeted action and business plans with clear achievement indicators, aiming for product quality that attracts broad market interest.
