Telkomsel, Pegatron Unveil 5G Partnership for Batam Factory

Telkomsel, Indonesia's leading digital telecommunications provider, and Pegatron 5G, the 5G business unit of global electronics manufacturer Pegatron, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona.

Aligned with MWC 2025's theme “Enterprise Re-Invented,” this strategic partnership marks a new step in advancing 5G Smart Manufacturing solutions to drive digital transformation in Indonesia’s manufacturing sector. The solution will be implemented at PT Pegaunihan Technology Indonesia, a Pegatron subsidiary operating in Batam.

Leveraging Telkomsel's advanced 5G network, this initiative aims to integrate the Internet of Things (IoT) and automation into production processes. With high-speed connectivity and low latency, the system is designed to boost operational efficiency, enhance quality control, and support mobility within manufacturing environments. Real-time monitoring through IoT adoption will help reduce production errors and accelerate data-driven decision-making.

Furthermore, this solution is expected to serve as a pilot model for 5G technology adoption in the manufacturing industry across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Wong Soon Nam, Telkomsel’s Director of Planning & Transformation, emphasized Telkomsel’s dedication to pushing digital transformation through cutting-edge technology. "Telkomsel is committed to delivering 5G-based solutions that not only enhance industrial efficiency and productivity but also strengthen sustainability aspects. This collaboration is a concrete step toward building a smarter, safer, and more eco-friendly manufacturing ecosystem through digital technology,” he stated.

CY Feng, General Manager of Pegatron’s Business Group of Communication Products, highlighted the impact of Telkomsel’s support. "Telkomsel’s support in implementing 5G Smart Manufacturing at PT Pegaunihan Technology Indonesia will help us optimize production processes with more advanced automation and improve worker safety standards. This solution aligns with our strategy of adopting smarter, greener, and more sustainable manufacturing systems,” he added.

Beyond this collaboration, Telkomsel and Pegatron 5G will also explore further opportunities to develop 5G and IoT-based solutions adaptable to other industries. The MoU reinforces both companies’ commitment to innovation, not only boosting business efficiency but also promoting industrial sustainability with safer, eco-conscious solutions.
