This accolade marks the first time in 13 years that an Indonesian citizen has received the OBE.

Early Life and Education

Rino Santodiono Donosepoetro, known professionally as Rino Donosepoetro, is a distinguished Indonesian banker with a career spanning over 25 years. He graduated from Universitas Katolik Parahyangan in Indonesia, specializing in International Relations. His academic background laid the foundation for his extensive career in international banking.

Career at Standard Chartered Bank

Donny began his professional journey as a Graduate Management Trainee at Standard Chartered Bank. His career trajectory led him to various international assignments, including positions in the United Arab Emirates, Chile, Singapore, the Falkland Islands, and Brunei Darussalam. Notably, he served as the CEO of Standard Chartered in the Falkland Islands from 2007 to 2010 and in Brunei Darussalam from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, he became the first Indonesian to lead Standard Chartered Indonesia as CEO, a position he held until 2019. Subsequently, he was appointed Vice Chairman for ASEAN and concurrently served as President Commissioner for Indonesia from 2019 to 2023.

Leadership Roles and Achievements

Beyond his banking career, Donny has held significant leadership roles in various organizations. In April 2022, he was appointed as the Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce Indonesia (BritCham), becoming the first Indonesian to hold this position in 42 years.
