On October 23, 2024, PT Mayora Group planted 7,500 mangrove trees along the coast of Ketapang Village in Mauk, Tangerang, Banten, as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. This initiative aims to protect coastal ecosystems and combat land erosion caused by rising sea levels.
The General Manager of Mayora’s Corporate IRGA, Rahardja Soetedjo, emphasized the company's dedication to preserving vulnerable coastal areas. He explained that mangrove trees play a crucial role in maintaining the local ecosystem by preventing saltwater intrusion and providing a habitat for diverse marine life. The trees are expected to create a protective barrier that benefits the surrounding communities.
Rahardja expressed hope that the planted mangroves would be preserved rather than cut down, allowing them to grow into a healthy forest that contributes positively to local life. The initiative has garnered praise from local authorities, including M. Ilyas from the Tangerang Environmental Agency, who noted Mayora's extensive environmental efforts, including the planting of various tree species.
Mayora Group has a history of environmental initiatives, having planted a total of 16,000 mangrove trees in the Tangerang area over the past two years. This year’s planting event involved cooperation with local government and military representatives, highlighting the community's involvement in environmental protection.
The company’s actions reflect its commitment to corporate social responsibility and the broader goal of ecological preservation in Indonesia.
