Mayapada Hospital Strengthens Robotic Urologic Surgery With International Expert Support

Mayapada Healthcare held its fourth international proctorship program, focusing on robotic urologic surgery at Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan (MHJS) on August 26–27, 2026 (26/08).

The program was conducted with strategic international partner Apollo Hospitals India as part of Mayapada Healthcare’s ongoing efforts to strengthen clinical capabilities and provide internationally standardized services across its hospital network.

Mayapada Treats Two Complex Urology Cases With da Vinci Xi

During the program, dr. Syamsu Hudaya, Sp.U, Subsp.Onk(K), FICRS, and dr. Stevano Lucianto Hotasi Sipahutar, Sp.U, FICRS, worked with the MHJS multidisciplinary team and Prof. (Dr.) Sanjai Kumar Addla, MRCS, MD, FRCS (Urol), an uro-oncology and robotic surgery specialist from Apollo Hospitals Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, India.

The team treated two patients with different urological conditions using da Vinci Xi Robotic-Assisted Surgery. One patient with prostate cancer underwent radical prostatectomy, while another patient was treated for a large kidney cyst.

Hospital Director of Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan, dr. Fiktorius Kuludong, MM, said robotic treatment for urological cases is part of the development of the Tahir Uro-Nephrology Center. The center provides urology services for conditions including enlarged prostate, kidney stones, kidney and urinary tract diseases, and uro-oncology cases.

Robotic Technology Supports Doctors During Surgery

As the lead doctor for the robotic urologic surgery at MHJS, dr. Syamsu Hudaya, Sp.U, Subsp.Onk(K), FICRS, said robotic technology does not replace doctors but serves as an extension of their capabilities.

According to Dr. Syamsu, the technology helps doctors improve visualization, control, and flexibility during procedures. It provides 3D visualization and allows instruments to be moved with greater precision and control, particularly in complex and narrow anatomical areas, while supporting minimally invasive procedures with smaller incisions.

Apollo Hospitals Expert Recognizes Mayapada’s Robotic Surgery Capability

Prof. (Dr.) Sanjai Kumar Addla, MRCS, MD, FRCS (Urol), served as the proctor during the procedures. He has experience performing more than 1,000 robotic procedures and said robotic surgery has become a standard practice in modern urology globally.

He said Mayapada Hospital had demonstrated its use of robotic technology and internationally standardized surgical techniques, as well as technical control and clinical decision-making to support safe and effective procedures.

Mayapada Develops People, Process and Technology

Mayapada Healthcare Chief Medical Officer dr. Dini Handayani, MARS, FISQua, FIPC, said international expert collaboration is part of the company’s efforts to strengthen clinical capabilities.

Mayapada Healthcare’s continuous improvement approach is based on three pillars: people, process, and technology. The company said robotic technology needs to be supported by doctor competence, structured training, multidisciplinary collaboration, and international standards.

Mayapada Healthcare is also developing the ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) protocol to support faster recovery and expand its use from orthopedics to other fields, including urology.

Tahir Uro-Nephrology Center to Support Urology Development

Mayapada Healthcare has continued clinical collaborations with leading experts and strategic international partners, including Apollo Hospitals India. The collaborations cover orthopedics, cardiac surgery, and now urology.

MHJS’s capability in treating urological cancer cases will be further strengthened through Tower 3 Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan. The tower is being developed as an advanced cancer service center with comprehensive, integrated, and technology-based services.

With a total building area of 110,209 square meters, MHJS will become the largest and most extensive private hospital in Indonesia, according to the source article. It will also provide access to globally standardized cancer services for complex cases in Indonesia.
