The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is strengthening Indonesia’s digital financial ecosystem through regulation, stakeholder collaboration, innovation development, and stronger consumer protection at the Digital Financial Innovation Day, or OJK Digination Day 2026, in Jakarta on Thursday (27/08).
OJK Deputy Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Hernawan Bekti Sasongko said the event brought together regulators, government representatives, parliament, industry players, investors, academics, and the public to support the development of an innovative, safe, trusted, inclusive, and sustainable digital financial sector.
He said the future of the financial sector requires coordination among all stakeholders because digital financial innovation has become an integral part of the financial system.
“Digital financial innovation is no longer standing on the sidelines or outside the financial system, but has become part of it. The principle we uphold is same activity, same risk, same regulation. Governance, risk management, and consumer protection standards that apply to the financial sector also apply here without exception,” Hernawan said.
OJK Launches Fintech Startup Accelerator
OJK also introduced the OJK Fintech Startup Accelerator program as one of its strategic initiatives to strengthen the innovation development chain.
The program connects startups, financial services companies, investors, and regulators to encourage innovative and responsible digital financial solutions.
The program was marked by a demo day and business matching session.
“Through the demo day and business matching, we also bring innovators together with funding partners and the industry while making Digination a showcase for the work of Indonesia’s digital talents. Most importantly, our work does not end when this event ends. In fact, after this forum ends, the real work begins,” Hernawan said.
OJK said it continues to build a sustainable cycle of dialogue, testing, implementation, and further dialogue to support the growth of the innovation ecosystem and deliver tangible benefits.
The authority is also prioritizing an adaptive regulatory framework for technological developments, including artificial intelligence, asset tokenization, blockchain, and crypto assets. These efforts are being carried out alongside stronger consumer protection and public literacy.
The development of the IAKD sector is further supported by Law No. 4 of 2026, which improves the legal framework for the development and strengthening of the financial sector.
The regulatory improvements are intended to provide legal certainty and create room for healthy, responsible, and sustainable industry growth. The direction will be included in the IAKD Roadmap 2026–2031.
Indonesia Records 22.93 Million Digital Financial Asset Accounts
OJK recorded 22.93 million consumer accounts for digital financial asset trading in Indonesia as of July 2026.
The authority also recorded crypto asset transaction value of Rp20.52 trillion and derivatives transaction value of Rp3.41 trillion during the same period.
The figures were supported by market infrastructure consisting of two digital financial asset exchanges, two clearing and settlement institutions, two custodians, and 26 licensed digital financial asset traders as of July 2026.
The CFX exchange recorded 1,214 assets and 49 derivatives, while the ICEX exchange recorded 871 tradable assets.
In the financial technology innovation sector, OJK recorded eight alternative credit rating providers and 16 financial services aggregation providers in July 2026.
Together, the providers had established 1,357 partnerships with financial services institutions.
OJK also launched the Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Pocket Book 2.0, which was prepared together with industry participants as a practical guide for the public to understand the characteristics, benefits, and risks of digital financial assets and crypto assets.
OJK Executive Head of Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Supervision Adi Budiarso said the publication was designed to increase public awareness and financial intelligence.
“This book is the work of Indonesia’s digital talents, both from OJK and from business associations and observers. I invite everyone to continue improving the quality of this book. This aims to increase awareness and financial intelligence. Do not forget that financial intelligence is the main pillar for achieving financial well-being,” Adi said.
OJK and Government Strengthen Digital Finance Collaboration
Chairman of Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Misbakhun welcomed OJK’s digital innovation efforts through Digination Day.
He said the event had brought together competent parties from the industry and was expected to generate innovations that could respond to existing challenges and provide solutions.
“Financial sector technological innovation, digital financial assets, and crypto assets are also one of the new sources of financing that have the potential to address structural financing challenges in Indonesia. The use of digital financial innovation is also expected to encourage financial inclusion, which will contribute to national economic growth,” Misbakhun said.
He added that this potential needs to be supported by adaptive regulation, funding access, capacity building, and digital talent development.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria said collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs and OJK is the backbone of an innovative and secure digital financial ecosystem.
“Komdigi prepares digital infrastructure, AI policies, and digital talent, while OJK ensures that innovation can grow within the framework of prudence, consumer protection, and financial system stability. These two roles complement each other and do not replace each other. Going forward, we invite OJK and the entire ecosystem present today to strengthen this synergy,” Nezar said.
OJK Sets Three Priorities for Digital Financial Development
OJK Digination Day 2026 was positioned as a forum for regulators, industry, academics, and policymakers to meet, discuss, and align the direction and future of Indonesia’s digital financial sector.
Adi said the event was not intended to be an annual ceremony but a shared working space to test ideas and ensure discussions produce tangible impacts.
“OJK Digination Day 2026 is presented not as an annual ceremony, but as a shared working space for regulators, industry, academics, and policymakers to meet, discuss, and align the direction and future of Indonesia’s digital financial sector. This forum is also a space to test ideas and ensure that discussions produce real impact,” Adi said.
OJK said improving financial literacy and financial intelligence would be one of the main pillars for building an advanced and prosperous Indonesia.
Going forward, OJK will focus the development of IAKD on three main agendas: deepening the existing ecosystem, widening the reach and use of innovation, and safeguarding consumers and strengthening risk mitigation.
The three agendas are directed at building an Indonesian digital financial ecosystem that is increasingly inclusive, safe, competitive, and sustainable.
