The partnership supports collaboration in education, research, innovation, and digital talent development following the earlier signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by both institutions.

Collaboration Covers Education, Research, and Digital Technology

The agreement provides a framework for cooperation in graduate certificate programmes, student and faculty mobility, and joint research. It also covers Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital business, sustainability, the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, logistics and supply chain management, data centers, and cloud computing.

Through these programmes, TelU and NUS aim to expand knowledge exchange, strengthen research capacity, and develop talent that meets the needs of the fast-growing digital industry.

Partnership Supports Indonesia–Singapore Digital Economy Initiative

The collaboration follows an initiative led by Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs to strengthen Indonesia–Singapore cooperation in the digital economy and talent development.

The initiative was introduced during the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs' working visit to Singapore in April 2026 and became the basis for the strategic partnership between TelU and NUS to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia's human resources in the digital economy.

Telkom Highlights Role in Building a Digital Talent Ecosystem

According to Telkom, the partnership with NUS is a strategic step to strengthen digital talent development and research capacity that matches industry needs. The collaboration is also expected to support curriculum development, faculty development, and applied research at Telkom University as part of the Telkom Group ecosystem.

Director of Strategic & Business Development Telkom Seno Soemadji said the partnership reflects Telkom's commitment to building an innovation ecosystem that connects academia, industry, government, and global partners.

"Digital transformation requires not only infrastructure and technology, but also world-class talent and a strong innovation ecosystem. The collaboration between Telkom University and the National University of Singapore is a strategic step to expand Indonesian talent's access to global networks, knowledge, and world-class best practices," said Seno.

He added that Telkom is committed to serving as an orchestrator that brings together academia, industry, government, and global partners to accelerate innovation and strengthen national competitiveness while building a pipeline of digital talent to support the company's future business needs and Indonesia's digital sovereignty.

"Telkom wants to continue becoming an orchestrator that brings together academia, industry, and government. Through this collaboration, we hope to create more digital talent exchange programmes, joint research, innovation partnerships, and the development of AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and other digital technology-based solutions that address industry needs. We believe the best innovations emerge from cross-ecosystem collaboration, and through this synergy we aim to continue developing talent that will drive Indonesia's digital transformation," Seno added.

Telkom University and NUS Expect Long-Term Benefits

Senior Vice Provost of the National University of Singapore Prof. Bernard C Y Tan said the university welcomed the collaboration to advance education, research, and innovation.

"We welcome the collaboration with Telkom University in advancing education, research, and innovation. We believe this partnership will open various opportunities for knowledge exchange, talent development, and joint research that can address challenges at both the regional and global levels. We hope this long-term collaboration will have a meaningful impact on both institutions and society."

Telkom University Rector Prof. Dr. Suyanto said the partnership marks an important step in strengthening the university's role in connecting academic development with the needs of the global digital industry.

"Indonesia still needs more digital talent to support digital transformation and achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. Through our partnership with the National University of Singapore, we aim to deliver practical programmes ranging from academic exchanges and joint research to community engagement. We hope this collaboration will strengthen the quality of our graduates while providing global experiences that are increasingly relevant to industry needs," Suyanto said.
