Batam Data Center Fully Booked Before Opening, Telkom Moves Ahead With BTM-2 Expansion

PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, through its data center operating company NeutraDC, announced that the first building of the NeutraDC Nxera Batam data center has secured partners for its entire capacity before beginning operations, prompting the company to accelerate plans for a second facility to meet growing demand in the SIJORI region (05/06).

The first facility, known as BTM-1, is scheduled to begin operations this year. Following strong market demand, the company has started preparing the development of a second building, BTM-2, to increase capacity and support the growing need for data center services in the regional market.

Batam Data Center Reaches Full Capacity Before Operations Begin

NeutraDC continues to strengthen national and regional digital infrastructure development through its joint venture data center, NeutraDC Nxera Batam.

According to the company, the full allocation of BTM-1 capacity before its operational launch reflects strong demand for data center services in the region and supports plans for future expansion.

Gorilla Technology Secures Capacity at NeutraDC Nxera Batam

One of the strategic partners that has secured capacity in BTM-1 is Gorilla Technology, a global provider of artificial intelligence, security, and data analytics solutions headquartered in London, United Kingdom.

Through the partnership agreement, Gorilla Technology will use the capacity at NeutraDC Nxera Batam to support AI infrastructure implementation and digital service development across Asia.

The company stated that the presence of global partners such as Gorilla Technology strengthens the position of NeutraDC Nxera Batam as a digital infrastructure destination capable of supporting AI, cloud, and digital service requirements at the regional level.

Telkom Highlights Growing Role of Digital Infrastructure

Telkom Director of Strategic Business Development & Portfolio, Seno Soemadji said the achievement reflects the strengthening position of TelkomGroup as it continues its transformation into a digital infrastructure company, which is one of the key pillars of the TLKM 30 strategy.

"The success validates Telkom’s transformation efforts to build a more focused, competitive business portfolio capable of creating long-term value. As demand for cloud, artificial intelligence, and digital services continues to grow across Southeast Asia, we see digital infrastructure becoming one of the key foundations of future digital economic growth," said Seno.

He added that the confidence shown by international partners demonstrates that Indonesia, particularly Batam, is increasingly recognized as an important part of the regional digital ecosystem.

"The strong market demand for BTM-1 also provides a positive signal for Telkom to continue developing additional capacity through BTM-2, as part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the regional digital ecosystem while supporting the TLKM 30 vision of creating sustainable new growth engines," he said.

Seno also stated that Batam is becoming increasingly important as a digital connectivity gateway linking the domestic market with the regional digital ecosystem.

"Through the development of world-class digital infrastructure, Telkom wants to ensure that Indonesia is not only a digital market but also an important part of the regional digital ecosystem. This step aligns with the TLKM 30 vision to build new growth engines, strengthen national competitiveness, and create sustainable value for Indonesia and all stakeholders," he added.

Batam Positioned to Meet Rising SIJORI Data Center Demand

NeutraDC Group CEO Andreuw Th. A.F said the successful partnership with Gorilla Technology represents an important milestone in accelerating the development of global-standard data center infrastructure in Indonesia.

“We are very excited to welcome Gorilla Technology and other global partners to NeutraDC Nxera Batam. Strong market interest in our Batam data center validates the readiness of our infrastructure, service quality, and development strategy that we have built together with strategic partners to support digital economic growth and AI adoption in the region,” said Andreuw.

The company stated that the development is expected to provide social and economic benefits for surrounding communities, including creating new employment opportunities, supporting the growth of local digital talent, increasing economic activity, and strengthening Batam’s attractiveness as a technology and digital investment destination.

NeutraDC Nxera Batam CEO Indrama YM Purba said Batam has significant potential to become a strategic digital data center hub in the region.

“Batam is a highly promising location with strong international connectivity, close proximity to regional economic centers, and a continuously developing investment climate. We see strong demand for data center capacity across the SIJORI region. This serves as the basis for our future capacity expansion plans in Batam,” he said.

Sustainability Remains Part of 100 MW Development Plan

The development of NeutraDC Nxera Batam, which is planned with a capacity of 100 MW, is being carried out with consideration for sustainability and operational efficiency.

The company stated that it continues to prioritize energy-efficient technologies, globally standardized operational governance, and development practices that support environmental sustainability.

As demand for artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital services increases across Southeast Asia, NeutraDC Nxera Batam is expected to support the acceleration of Indonesia’s digital transformation and strengthen the country's position as a regional digital hub.
