BSI Becomes First Indonesian Bank to Secure ISO 56001:2024 Innovation Certification

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) has become the first company and bank in Indonesia to obtain the ISO 56001:2024 Innovation Management System certification, reinforcing its role in national Islamic banking transformation (01/05).

The achievement highlights BSI’s strategic effort to strengthen innovation capabilities through a globally recognized management system.

ISO 56001:2024 Sets Global Standard for Innovation Management

The ISO 56001:2024 standard, established by the International Organization for Standardization, ensures organizations can manage innovation in a systematic, integrated, and value-driven manner.

The framework emphasizes leadership, governance, organizational culture, and sustainable innovation processes as part of long-term business strategy.

Certification Earned After Comprehensive External Audit

BSI secured the certification after completing a comprehensive external audit conducted by TÜV NORD Indonesia in March 2026.

This milestone reflects the bank’s commitment to embedding innovation as a strategic capability, beyond administrative requirements.

Structured Innovation System Supports Customer-Focused Solutions

Through the ISO 56001:2024-based Innovation Management System, BSI manages innovation end-to-end, from strategic alignment and portfolio management to idea development, performance measurement, and value realization.

This approach ensures innovations in products and processes remain relevant to more than 23 million customers while aligning with prudential principles and Islamic values.

Executives Highlight Strategic Value of Certification

BSI Director of Compliance & Human Capital Arief Adhi Sanjaya said the certification reflects the company’s commitment to structured innovation.

“ISO 56001:2024 serves as a critical foundation for BSI to ensure innovation is developed systematically, aligned with corporate strategy, and oriented toward long-term value creation. For us, innovation is part of a mandate to continuously deliver the best service and build customer trust,” he said.

Director of TÜV NORD Indonesia Gde Bayu Wicaksana stated that BSI is the first company and bank in Indonesia to implement and be certified under ISO 56001:2024.

“BSI officially becomes the first company and bank in Indonesia to implement and be certified under ISO 56001:2024 Innovation Management System. This shows that BSI has a mature, structured innovation management framework integrated with its business strategy, in line with international best practices,” he said.
