WHO and Indonesia Health Ministry Sign USD 14.86M Grant Agreement to Strengthen National Health System

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and the World Health Organization (WHO) officially signed a Grant Agreement and Joint Workplan for the WHO Biennium 2026–2027, to strengthen the national health system (18/02).

Strategic Partnership Aligns with National and WHO Health Programs

The collaboration supports health programs in line with the WHO 14th General Programme of Work, the Ministry of Health Strategic Plan, RPJMN 2025–2029, and the six pillars of health transformation.

WHO Provides Funding Support for Health Programs

Through this agreement, WHO Indonesia will provide USD 14,859,366 in grants, including cash, goods, and services, to support the implementation of health programs during the biennium.

Ministry of Health Highlights Benefits and Collaboration

Secretary-General Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha expressed appreciation for the long-standing partnership with WHO. He said the support has significantly contributed to strengthening promotive and preventive health efforts, improving the quality of health services, enhancing health system resilience, and developing evidence-based health policies.

“Signing the Grant Agreement and Joint Workplan Biennium 2026–2027 is a strategic step to ensure the continuity of WHO support for national health development priorities. This collaboration is an important foundation to strengthen a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable health system,” Kunta said.

Coordinated Implementation to Optimize Health Programs

Kunta added that the Ministry of Health is committed to optimizing the Joint Workplan through close coordination with all technical units receiving grants. He also hopes WHO will continue providing technical and policy support, particularly in strengthening planning, monitoring, and evaluation capacities, in line with the Ministry’s key performance indicators.

The agreement is expected to accelerate the implementation of agreed activities and produce measurable improvements in public health, supporting national health targets and sustainable development goals.
