Itera Guides Startups Through Digital Marketing Funnels and Financial Governance in 2025 Training Series

Institut Teknologi Sumatera (Itera), through the Center for Innovation Implementation, reinforced its role in developing a technology-based entrepreneurship ecosystem by organizing the 2025 Startup Business Incubation Workshop, held across four sessions throughout November (11/25).

The program served as a platform for strengthening the capacity of startups and young entrepreneurs as they navigate the dynamics of the digital economy.

Digital Marketing Session Emphasizes Funnel Strategy and Content Skills

During activities at the Student Center and Training Center buildings in late November, participants received practical guidance covering digital marketing strategies and business financial management.

Business practitioner Juniari Viranando led the digital marketing session, urging tenants and public participants to understand funneling strategies, from identifying potential customers to achieving sales conversions.

He stressed that technical abilities alone are not enough without the skill to produce high-quality digital content.

Participants then practiced creating marketing materials using applications such as CapCut, TikTok, and WhatsApp Business to enhance their competitiveness in the digital marketplace.

Financial Governance Training Builds Stronger Business Fundamentals

The program continued with a financial governance session led by Bayu Sunuaji, S.P., owner of the Aida Tapis brand and Director of PT Makmur.

He underlined that financial records function as a business identity and serve as a tool for decision-making.

Participants were trained to prepare profit-loss statements, cash-flow reports, balance sheets, and financial trend analyses, helping them separate personal and business assets and manage their ventures more systematically and sustainably.

Itera Highlights Innovation Downstreaming and Multidisciplinary Support

Head of the Center for Innovation Implementation and Innovation Itera, Deni Subara, S.Si., M.T., Ph.D., stated that the workshop forms part of the university’s innovation downstreaming strategy.

With the support of 42 study programs, complete laboratory facilities, and multidisciplinary collaboration, the Itera Business Incubator is expected to produce startups that are resilient and responsive to market challenges.

He affirmed that strengthening capacity through this training is essential for Itera-assisted entrepreneurs to build skills in digital marketing strategy and financial management.

Interactive Discussion Addresses Real Challenges Faced by Entrepreneurs

The series concluded with an interactive discussion that explored real issues encountered by business actors, including declining sales and strategies to maintain market presence.

The Itera Business Incubator hopes the workshop will continue to encourage the emergence of technology-based and innovation-driven entrepreneurs who are ready to compete at the national level.
