Dony Oskaria Officially Appointed Head of BP BUMN Amid Indonesia’s SOE Restructuring

President Prabowo Subianto has officially inaugurated Dony Oskaria as Head of the Badan Pengaturan Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BP BUMN) at the State Palace on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

Prior to this appointment, Oskaria served as Acting Minister of SOEs after Erick Thohir was reassigned as Minister of Youth and Sports. At the time, Oskaria held the position of Vice Minister of State-Owned Enterprises under Erick’s leadership.

Major Institutional Shift in SOE Oversight

Oskaria’s appointment coincides with a structural change in SOE governance. The Ministry of SOEs has been renamed BP BUMN, following the fourth amendment to the SOE Law. The change was ratified by the House of Representatives during the sixth plenary session of the 2025–2026 parliamentary term.

BP BUMN replaces the ministry and assumes its main roles and responsibilities.

Track Record in Government and Investment Institutions

Before leading BP BUMN, Oskaria was also appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Badan Pengelola Investasi (BPI) Danantara, a sovereign wealth fund launched by President Prabowo earlier this year.

BPI Danantara has been positioned as a superholding for Indonesia’s SOEs, taking over core functions previously carried out by the Ministry of SOEs.

Career in Aviation, Finance, and Tourism Sectors

Dony Oskaria previously served as President Director of InJourney (PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia), a holding company for SOEs in aviation and tourism.

Earlier in his career, he held various executive roles in CT Corp. These include Managing Director of Bank Mega (2012–2014), Commissioner at Garuda Indonesia (2014–2019), CEO of AntaVaya (2014–2020), President Director of Trans Studio Mall (2014–2020), and CEO of Hospitality & Entertainment at CT Corp (2018–2020).

Educational and Personal Background

Born in 1969 in Tanjung Alam, Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, Oskaria spent his early years in a modest household. His parents worked in informal jobs.

He completed his primary education locally, continued to junior high school in Padang (SMP Negeri 7), and attended SMA Negeri 75 Kebon Jeruk in Jakarta. He first enrolled in Accounting at Universitas Andalas, Padang, but later switched to International Relations at Universitas Padjajaran. He completed an MBA program at the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines, in 2009.

Official Asset Report from the KPK

According to the 2023 wealth report (LHKPN) submitted to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Oskaria’s total assets amounted to IDR 29.88 billion. His property holdings, located in South Jakarta and Padang, were valued at IDR 19.81 billion.
