PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk. (WIFI), known as Surge, launched Wi-Fi 7 technology with speeds of up to 2 Gbps at SMPN 15 Denpasar, Bali, on October 3, 2025. The event was opened virtually by Hashim Djojohadikusumo, shareholder of WIFI and brother of President Prabowo Subianto.

Djojohadikusumo emphasized that connectivity is the backbone of education, innovation, and economic growth. He said the launch location was chosen to highlight the importance of education after digital infrastructure is in place.

"With world-class internet we now offer, WIFI and our partners ensure that schools, communities, and SMEs have access to succeed in the digital era," said Djojohadikusumo.

Targeting Education, Communities, and SMEs

WIFI President Director Yune Marketatmo stated that Bali was chosen because it is a showcase for Indonesia and a hub for many creative industries that need high-speed internet.

“We are working on pricing for Wi-Fi 7. For us, Wi-Fi 7 should be affordable. We will stay consistent with offering reasonable prices,” said Yune.

Supporting Tourism and Local Businesses in Bali

CEO of Bali Internet and President Director of PT Sinergi Inti Andalan Prima Tbk. (INET), Muhammad Arif Angga, said Wi-Fi 7 will benefit tourism and MSMEs.

"As Starlite’s partner in Bali, we are proud to introduce Wi-Fi 7 to the Balinese community. Wi-Fi 7 comes with a mission to bring world-class internet to homes, businesses, and public institutions. This technology will support Bali’s growing tourism and open new opportunities for local MSMEs," said Arif.

Huawei as Technology Provider

Dajiang Xin, Chairman of the Board at PT Huawei Tech Investment, confirmed Huawei's role as the technology provider in the project and stressed the importance of collaboration in advancing Indonesia's digital transformation.

“With speeds of up to 2 Gbps, Wi-Fi 7 will transform user experiences in education, entertainment, and business. Our collaboration with Surge and Bali Internet shows how technology partnerships can create new growth opportunities in the digital era,” said Dajiang Xin.

Government Support for Digital Education

Bali Governor I Wayan Koster welcomed the launch of Indonesia’s first Wi-Fi 7 with speeds up to 2 Gbps. He stated that the internet would be provided free of charge to schools across Bali.

“This is part of our digital education transformation program,” said Koster.
