PT Bank Hibank Indonesia, a subsidiary of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI), has officially launched its mobile banking application, hibank. This move aims to accelerate the digital transformation of Indonesia's micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).
Jenny Wiriyanto, President Director of Hibank, emphasized that UMKM is a vital pillar of Indonesia's economy. She highlighted that the sector contributes more than 61% to the national gross domestic product (GDP) and absorbs over 97% of the country’s workforce.
"Generally, UMKM still rely on manual record-keeping systems, struggle to adopt technology for business growth, operate inefficiently, and most importantly, lack proper planning. These challenges make it harder for them to access financial services," Jenny explained during the mobile banking hibank launch event in Jakarta (February 21, 2025).
With the Hibank app, Jenny hopes to address key issues faced by UMKM, ranging from financial literacy and inclusion to business planning, financial management, and record-keeping.
"Additionally, the app provides funding solutions and, equally important, supports business promotion, allowing UMKM to scale up," she added.
To further support this initiative, hibank organized the "hi Pasar Rakyat Digital" event, running from Friday to Sunday (February 21-23, 2025) at Hutan Kota, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta. The event showcased various UMKM products, promoting digital transactions.
Okki Rushartomo, Corporate Secretary of BNI, stated that the event demonstrates BNI Group’s commitment to boosting the people's economy by involving UMKM in its programs.
"As a key driver of long-term growth, BNI appreciates Hibank’s dedication to focusing on the UMKM segment," Okki said in a written statement.
He added that Hibank's presence is expected to strengthen BNI Group’s UMKM portfolio while maintaining prudent banking principles and keeping non-performing loan (NPL) ratios low.
Currently, BNI holds a 63.9% stake in Hibank. Okki emphasized that Hibank aims to become Indonesia's first digital bank focused on UMKM, positioning itself as a key source of long-term growth for BNI.
